In Honor of William Angelo Rossi.
William (Bill) Rossi passed away peacefully at his home in Middleton, MA on Sunday, January 28, 2024 surrounded by family. He was 88 years old.
Bill was born in Everett, MA and spent his youth there. He met the love of his life, Louise, at Everett High School. After graduating from high school, Bill served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Japan. He served with honor and returned to the States to marry Louise in September, 1957.
Bill was always fascinated by cars – starting as a boy, fixing and rebuilding cars with his father, Rocco, and continuing into the military. Bill spent his career in the auto industry, first as a mechanic, then owning a service station and Renault dealership. He spent the latter part of his career working as a body shop manager for several dealerships on the North Shore.
Very mechanically-inclined - Bill loved to fix and build things. He refurbished a 1947 Chevrolet coupe and 1968 Camaro in his garage. He was a big man with large hands, but it didn't stop him from making World War II model airplanes, antique cars and sailing ships, and doll houses.
While raising their family in Danvers, MA, Bill and Louise enjoyed going to Danvers High sporting events, and later, watching their son play football at Dartmouth College. They especially enjoyed tailgating with other parents before and after home games.
Bill and Louise belonged to Danversport Yacht Club where they enjoyed taking their boat out to cruise up the Annisquam River to Gloucester or the Cape, or just sitting at the dock, enjoying a cocktail with friends and the club community. Loving being near or on the water, they built a house at Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester after the kids were launched. Many weekends were spent with family there, swimming, enjoying cookouts and hosting sleep-overs with cousins.
Bill and Louise were devoted to their family and loved having family and friends around them at any time. Sadly, Bill leaves behind his wife of 66 years, Louise; daughters, Cheryl Fry, Jean Deluca; and son, Bill Rossi, Jr.; in-laws, Harry Fry, Lisen Stromberg, Dean DiGregorio, and Asaad Faquir; grandkids: Tonya DiGregorio, Tara Faquir, Will, Maret, and Soren Rossi, and Krista and Carly Deluca; and great-grandchildren Brock and Gia DiGregorio, and Joseph Deluca. Known as Big Papa to all, he will be deeply missed.
Bill will be remembered for the love he exuded and the genuine good nature and sense of humor he shared with all.
