William J. MacDonald, Sr.

Beloved father and grandfather, William “Bill” James MacDonald, Sr., age 88, passed away peacefully at home on October 23, 2022 with his daughter, Ashley Davies MacDonald, son-in-law, Liam Davies, and nephew, Joseph MacDonald, by his side. Bill was born in Chelsea, MA and resided in Lynnfield, MA for the past 35 years. He was the youngest son of Joseph and Alice MacDonald and was one of eleven children. Bill was predeceased by his wife, the love of his life, Evelyn “Lee” MacDonald. He is survived by his six children: Ashley Davies MacDonald, William J. MacDonald, Jr., Kellie Costigan, Dennis MacDonald, Wendy MacDonald, and Lynn Bourgeois as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bill’s lifelong career as the owner of a demolition business was his greatest and lifelong passion. He enjoyed the casino and tried his luck at blackjack. He loved animals and never lived without a pet. Bill enjoyed cooking and having Sunday dinners with his family. He was an avid fan of football especially the Patriots. Bill’s strength and resilient nature left him well equipped to tackle a battle with cancer later in life.  He simultaneously surprised everyone and no one with his ability to surmount every hurdle cancer threw at him.    

Bill’s grit and zeal for life left an unmistakable mark on those lucky enough to know him. His cheeky sense of humor, overwhelming generosity, and commitment to friends and family are how he will be remembered.
