William Holden Obituary

William “Bill” Joseph Holden of Middleton formerly of Wakefield passed peacefully on May 13th after a brief but courageous battle with Covid 19. Born in Winthrop, MA on December 30th, 1940 he was the son of George and Julia Holden.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Roseann (Cutone) Holden also of Middleton his Son William “Billy” Holden Jr. and his wife Rita of Salem, NH his daughter Tara Holden and her husband Doug Orciani of Windham, NH and 4 grand children who he cherished deeply, Gina, Sean Emily and Nicholas. In addition, Bill leaves behind his siblings Eileen Stewart, June Fopiano, Elaine MacKay and Jim Holden. Bill was predeceased by his brother Bob Holden.

Bill was a graduate of Everett Highschool class of 1958. After high school he served in the US army where he spent 2 years in Germany. After serving he received his bachelors from Northeastern University then spent many years in the computer industry. In 1990 Bill joined his son in the produce business as co-owner of Holden fruit and Produce based in Chelsea, MA. Despite being a man of few words, his presence was always felt. His pleasant demeanor and dry sense of humor allowed him to build many long lasting and meaningful friendships.

Bill enjoyed traveling (especially to Aruba), a good meal, a good martini but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

As a result of the restriction associated with Covid-19 the family will be holding a private graveside ceremony at the Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, MA on Wednesday May 20th, at 11:00 a.m. A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
