Walter Birmingham, Jr. Obituary

Walter J. Birmingham Jr., affectionately known as Wally to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, in Saugus, Massachusetts. Born on March 21, 1943, in Peabody, Wally's life was one marked by an adventurous spirit. Wally was a proud graduate of Peabody High School, where he first began to cultivate his deep love for sports, especially the Boston Red Sox. Watching a game wasn’t just about the score; it was about the ritual, the stories, the history, and the shared experience. Win or lose, his loyalty never wavered, and his passion for the game brought joy and connection to those around him.The Birmingham family matriarch and patriarch, Walter and Diane Birmingham, along with his sister Marguerite "Joanie" Anderson, Diane "Cathy" Gregory, and his brother-in-law, Roger Charron of Danvers, predeceased him. Wally's memory will be cherished and kept alive by his brother, Harry "Jimmy" Birmingham and his wife, Linda of South Carolina; his sister Elaine Charron of Danvers; his brother-in-law, Arthur Gregory of Kingston, New Hampshire; and his many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Wally. Your spirit will forever be a part of the stories that are told in the stands of Fenway Park and in the hearts of those who loved you. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visitation on Saturday Feb. 14th from 10-11am followed by Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Winchester.
