Thomas Gerard Cosgrove
1962 – 2025
Thomas Gerard Cosgrove, 62, passed unexpectedly on July 5, 2025. Born and raised in Danvers, Massachusetts, Tom grew up in a lively household with his older siblings Maureen, Bill, Joe, Tim, and Bob, raised by their loving parents Bill and Belle Cosgrove.
From an early age, Tom had a passion for being active and running. He was a standout track athlete at Danvers High School and was inducted into their Hall of Fame. He went on to run competitively in college and carried that love for the sport throughout his life, later sharing it with his daughters, proudly supporting them in their own athletic pursuits, and even qualifying to run the Boston marathon himself.
Tom met the love of his life, Alaine, in college. Together they built a beautiful life, first in Topsfield, Massachusetts, and later in Naples, Florida, where they raised their two daughters, Jessica and Emily. Tom was the heart of his family—a constant, supportive, and passionate presence. He never missed a single sporting event or milestone, always cheering the loudest on the sidelines, coaching his daughters’ teams, and encouraging them to embrace life with courage and joy.
Tom was affectionately known as “Mr. Adventure” by his family. He had a passion for travel and exploring new places, always seeking out new experiences and destinations to share with his loved ones. Whether it was an international trip or discovering hidden spots off the beaten path, Tom found joy in every journey. He lived life to the fullest—running marathons, hiking, triathlons, scuba diving, skiing, starting his own business, biking 100-mile races, and even earning his pilot’s license simply for the challenge. He thrived in the outdoors and brought an infectious energy to everything he did.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, William E. Cosgrove. He is survived by his loving wife, Alaine; daughters, Jessica and Emily; mother, Belle Cosgrove; and siblings, William, Joseph, Timothy, Robert, and Maureen.
Tom often said, “Enjoy every day” and “Live in the moment.” He truly lived by those words, and he would want all of us to do the same going forward.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Tom on Wednesday, July 23rd at 10:30am at St. Richard Parish in Danvers - see details below.
