Stephanie Ellen Oakes, known for her kindness and infectious humor, passed away on July 15, 2024, after a brief illness. Born on October 27, 1963 in Gloucester, she spent most of her years living and working in Danvers and the North Shore.
The daughter of the late Fletcher I. Oakes and Elizabeth "Betty" Oakes (nee Jewett), Stephanie was a spirited soul from the start. She was a graduate of Danvers High School, class of '81, and went on to earn her B.S. in Business Administration from UMass Lowell in 1985. Her academic achievements were a testament to her dedication and work ethic, qualities that she carried throughout her life.
Stephanie's professional journey was as purposeful as it was passionate. She founded Stephanie's Petcare Danvers, a pet care business that not only catered to the needs of animals but also created a community of pet lovers who admired her warmth and expertise. Her love for animals was paralleled by her dedication to helping others, which she exemplified through her work as a Home Health Aide. Stephanie's ability to connect with people and pets alike was remarkable. A true sports fan at heart, Stephanie's enthusiasm for all Boston teams knew no bounds. Whether cheering from the stands or from her living room, she was an especially devoted supporter of the Patriots and the Red Sox.
Stephanie lives on in the memory of her brother, David Oakes, his wife Julie, and their children, Sam and Emma, of Catonsville, MD. She is also survived by her stepmother, Marsha Oakes of South Carolina, and aunt, Nancy Oakes of California.
Your life ended much too soon, Stephanie, but may you rest in peace.
