Robert Pimental Obituary

Robert F. Pimental, known affectionately as Bob by his loved ones, passed away peacefully of natural causes on March 30, 2024, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice.

Born in Somerville on March 12, 1940, Bob's life was marked by his intelligence, passion, and loving nature, which touched the hearts of many throughout his 84 years. Bob spent his early years overcoming challenges with resilience and determination, having been educated at the Boston School for the Deaf before proudly graduating from Rindge Technical School. His relentless spirit and hardworking ethos led him to a fulfilling career as a truck driver, first with Filenes and later with Mobil Oil. Upon retirement, Bob's unwavering commitment to helping others shone brightly as he dedicated many years to Habitat for Humanity. His selfless contributions, alongside those of his wife, were recognized when they were honored with the Judy L. Hilliard Community Service Award, a testament to their shared dedication to the betterment of their community.

More than his public service, Bob will be remembered for his remarkable talent as a woodworker. His hands could craft not just furniture but pieces of art that became cherished heirlooms within his family and among friends. Each creation was a testament to his meticulous attention to detail and his passion for bringing beauty into the lives of those he loved. Bob's enthusiasm for life extended to his love of the arts and sports. He relished moments spent at the theater, enjoying performances by the Boston Pops, and was an avid fan of Boston's sports teams. His passion for watching his teams was marked by contagious joy, as he shared these experiences with family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Pimental, who was his partner in life and in service. Bob's legacy also lives on through his cherished family members, including his niece Nancy Moore and her husband Ted of Boxford, his niece Paula Bdiwi and her partner Frank of Boxford, and his nephew Mark Pimental of Colorado Springs. His warmth, guidance, and love will be deeply missed by his many nieces, nephews, and extended family members, all of whom he adored. He was the brother of the late Anthony J. Pimental.

Bob's life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the impact one person can have on the world around them. He was a man who lived with his heart on his sleeve, always ready to lend a hand, share a laugh, or offer a word of encouragement. His intelligence and passion were matched only by his loving nature, making him a pillar of strength and kindness in the lives of all who knew him.

As we mourn the loss of Robert F. Pimental, we also celebrate a life extraordinarily well-lived. Bob's memory will continue to inspire and influence, a beacon of what it means to live with purpose and love unconditionally. He has left an indelible mark on the world, one that will be cherished and remembered for generations to come.

In his passing, Bob leaves behind not just a legacy of community service and artistry but a blueprint for a life filled with compassion, dedication, and joy. He was a man who found richness in simplicity, power in kindness, and eternal love in the bonds of family and friends. Though he may have left this world, the light of his spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
