Robert Chester “Chet” Miller, age 71, passed away on Thursday, June 23, following a brief illness. Chet was born on May 30, 1951, to Chester and Phyllis (Leyden) Miller in Chelsea, MA. Chet was then raised in Danvers and was a graduate of Danvers High School’s class of 1969.
Chet later attended Northeastern University before finding his lifelong vocation as a skilled woodworker. He worked for many years as a union carpenter for the Shawmut Construction Company of Boston. He also loved spending time wood carving and developing his passion for photography. In his retirement, Chet was an avid long-distance walker as well.
Chet leaves behind his loving wife Joyce (Hersey) Miller, with whom he shared 38 years of marriage. He is survived by his two sons and their wives, Joshua and Alyssa of Hampstead, NH, as well as Jamie and Kathryn of Derry, NH. Chet was also a grandfather of five: Ava, Calli, Nicholas, Tiffany, and Mariah.
Chet is also survived by his brother Brian of Newburyport; brother Keith, his wife Kathleen, and daughter Grace of Danvers; sister Jane and her husband Dean Brown of Groveland; and extended family members Robert Kelley; Jack, Ruth, and Allison Haley; and Kate Sullivan.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Chet’s life on Friday, July 1st from 10 AM-1 PM. Visitation will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S Main St., Middleton, MA.
