Dr. Robert D. Moore, age 52, tragically passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, while hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Rob is survived by his wife Ellen Sampson Moore, and their children Sammy, Abby, Ava, and Griffin. Rob was deeply dedicated to his wife and children each and everyday and loved them with all of his heart and soul.
Rob was loved for his infectious laughter, boundless energy, and warmth that touched everyone he met. He was generous, selfless, and always available to lend a hand to anyone he met. Rob had a passion for the outdoors, enjoying outdoor activities with his family and friends. He summited Mt. Whitney with family, and climbed half of the 4000 footers in New Hampshire. He cherished his time with family and friends downhill skiing, skinning up, and hiking Sugarloaf Mountain and boating and swimming on Great Pond in Maine.
Rob attended Brooks School in North Andover for high school and Bates College, where he met his beloved wife Ellen and many great friends. He played varsity soccer at both the high school and collegiate levels.
After earning a degree in medicine, he pursued a career as a surgeon on the North Shore, specializing in minimally invasive surgery and trauma. He was highly respected and admired by both patients and medical colleagues. He made a profound difference in the lives of so many of his patients and their families. He regularly received cards and gifts from them expressing their gratitude.
Rob is survived by his mother Toni Moore of Lebanon, NH and his father William Moore of Topsfield as well as his siblings Will, Dennis, Preston, Pat, Cy, Marie, Liz and Nicole and their spouses and children. Rob was blessed to be surrounded by the brilliance, strength, love and laughter of his amazing family.
Rob truly enriched the lives of all he touched, making the world a better place. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A public wake will be held from 3pm to 7pm, Sunday August 11 th at Mackey Funeral Home,128 S. Main, Rt 114, Middleton, MA 01949. Funeral Mass will be held at 11am, Monday August 12th at St. Rose of Lima Parish, 12 Park St, Topsfield, MA 01983.
