Peter Madden Obituary

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, Peter “Pete” Madden, loving husband of Nancy Glidden Madden, passed away at the age of 87 at Masconomet Health Care.
He was born in Cambridge, Mass on May 3rd, 1935 to Barbara “Barb” Woodward and Edward Madden. Pete grew up in Middleton, Mass and lived there most of his adult life. Pete and Nancy were high school sweethearts and enjoyed 65 years together as a married couple. They wed on September 22nd, 1956 in Beverly, Mass.
A dedicated family man and hard worker, Pete owned and operated Madden Builders with his son Peter Madden. They owned and raced the Madden Builders NASCAR Racing Team and had great fun racing on tracks across New England. A loving and devoted husband and grandfather, to his grandchildren he was affectionally called “Bump.”
Pete was an avid snow skier and water skier. Some of his favorite memories were made on Merrymeeting Lake, surrounded by family,  teaching his children to water ski, and driving his treasured Moomba ski boat. Always up for an adventure, he had great fun heliskiing.
Pete is survived by his wife Nancy, their three children, Peter A. Madden and his wife Donna of Middleton, Patti A. Madden and her husband Bill of Middleton, and Susan M. Madden of Rockport, and is predeceased by his brother David Madden of Middleton. He and Nancy have seven grandchildren, Libby Ebert, Allyson Carroll, Benjamin Besse, Max DeBoalt, Andrew (Andy) Peter Besse, Michelle Kundicz, and Gina Macera, and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Myla, Colton, and Jack. The Madden family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Masconomet Health Care for their care of Pete, and the family would also like to thank Andrew “Andy” Peter Besse for his daily morning visits with muffins and coffee in hand.
