Paul Bartram, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 8th.

Paul was born on January 25, 1941 in Swampscott to Glenn and Doris (Lane). He graduated from Swampscott High School, Brewster Academy, Northeastern University and Suffolk Law School and went on to practice law, became a Public Defender and then spent most of his career as a Probation Officer for Lynn District Court.

In his youth he was  a high school athlete and played baseball, hockey and football. During Paul’s four years on the Swampscott High School football team the team went undefeated.

Paul married the love of his life, Noreen Sullivan, and they spent over 55 beautiful years together. They raised four children in a close-knit Swampscott neighborhood where he was very active in his children’s lives, coaching multiple sports including hockey, soccer and baseball. He was a Boy Scout Leader and participated in other community activities.

Upon retirement Paul and Noreen spent summers at their lake house in East Wakefield, NH and winters in Lake Havasu City, AZ where they had many dear friends who became second family. As an avid golfer, he was a member of the Province Lake Golf Club, and played in various leagues in AZ. Other enjoyments were reading a good book, watching local sports, playing cards and the lottery as well as sipping a Perfect Manhattan after beating his boys in a round of golf.

One of Paul’s greatest joys was spending time with his children, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. His favorite people called him Papa.
