Michele A. (Locke) McLaughlin

Peabody, MA- Michele A. “Shelly” (Locke) McLaughlin, age 51, of Peabody, died unexpectedly at home on October 26, 2023, after a long-term illness. She was the devoted and loving wife of Brian McLaughlin, the love of her life. The were married for 21 years.

Michele was born in Lynn on January 17, 1972, the daughter of Marlene (Morra) Locke and the late Donald Locke.  She grew up in Nahant and loved spending summers at the beach. She held many degrees, but it was her BS in Nursing from Salem State University, which she earned in 2009, that she was most proud of.  She graduated at the top of her class. Michele was a compassionate and dedicated nurse always going above and beyond for her patients.  She put her heart and soul into being a nurse and was forced to retire when she became ill in 2015.  

Michele loved traveling with her husband.  They took many wonderful trips together over the years, her favorite place was Aruba.  Michele and Brian were passionate about helping those less fortunate and made it a part of their lifestyle.  Michele would smile through her pain and always go a few extra steps out of her way to say thank you to a veteran.  She was the nurse and comedian of her family and laughter was the medicine when she was in the room. She was a proud aunt and was so happy that she got to spend time with her niece Alison this summer.   She especially loved going to concerts and comedy shows with her nephew Jackson, who was like a son to her.  “Shelly girl” was the bright star of her family and will forever be remembered loving, laughing and nursing.

In addition to her husband Brian, Michele is survived by her dearly loved mother Marlene Locke of Gloucester, her sister and best friend Vanessa Locke of Gloucester and her beloved brother Daniel Locke and his wife Donna of Staten Island, NY.  She leaves behind her cherished nephew Jackson Stevens and his wife Kristen of Gloucester, her precious niece Alison Locke of Staten Island, NY and her dear niece Shawna Duffy and her partner Meghan McCombs of Salem as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins.  Michele was a loving “Dog Mom” to Cori for 15 years. She was a grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 28 years and died sober.
