Michael Keenan Obituary

Michael F. Keenan, affectionately known as Mike or Keno to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on February 15, 2024, in Beverly, MA, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on September 15, 1955, in Lynn, MA, he was a son to the late Thomas P. Keenan and Lucy (Savino) Keenan and grew up surrounded by the love and laughter that would come to define his entire life.

Mike was a man of many talents and interests, whose warmth and humor brought joy to all who knew him. He was a cherished brother to Thomas and Robert Keenan, a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Catherine, and a loving father to his children, Katelyn Warshauer and Michael Keenan Jr. His role as a grandfather to Owen Warshauer was one he embraced with all his heart, infusing every moment with his trademark wit and boundless affection.

A graduate of Fitchburg State College, Mike dedicated his professional life to nurturing the minds and spirits of others. He began his career teaching special education students in woodshop, where he combined his passion for craftsmanship with his innate ability to connect with and inspire his students. Later, he brought his expertise and dedication to General Electric in Lynn, where he worked as an engineer, respected by his colleagues for his skill and reliability.

Mike's life outside of work was rich with the simple pleasures that he cherished deeply. He was a man who found solace in the rhythm of the waves at the beach, the thrill of setting sail on a cruise, and the satisfaction of tending to his garden alongside his son—particularly when it came to growing pumpkins. His love for dogs was evident to all, as was his enjoyment of sitting on the farmer's porch, reflecting on the day's work or simply watching the world go by.

His hands were as skilled in fixing a sprinkler system as they were in crafting a wooden masterpiece, earning him the reputation of being exceptionally handy. In the kitchen, he could often be found sneaking candy or shortbread cookies when he thought no one was looking. Using his mother’s family recipes his stuffed shells and pizzelles were the highlight of many family gatherings. And at the end of a long day, he could often be found savoring a cold glass of Tito's, content in the company of those he loved.

Mike was the rock of his family, a source of strength, laughter, and love that never wavered. He was the embodiment of what it means to be funny, loving, and handy—qualities that endeared him to everyone he met and that will be deeply missed by those he leaves behind.

As we bid farewell to Mike, we celebrate a life lived with joy, a heart given freely, and a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in the memories of his family and friends. Mike's spirit, characterized by his infectious laughter and generous nature, will forever be a beacon of light for all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
