Michael K. Foley, affectionately known as “Uncle Mike” passed away on March 26, 2026. A man of strong Catholic Faith, he died the way he loved to live- surrounded by family in his home.
Son of the late Timothy “Ted” Foley and Julia “Sheila” (Mangan) Foley, Michael was born in Beverly on July 2, 1949, the youngest of seven. Michael was immensely proud of his dual citizenship from Ireland but kept close to his North Shore roots living in Bevverly and Danvers before moving to the Ferncroft Tower in Middleton in 2020.
Michael’s greatest joys in life were his family and friends. He rarely missed a sporting event, dance recital, school function, holiday, or family gathering. He enjoyed golfing with his brothers and nephews at Olde Salem Greens on Saturday afternoons. Michael loved music, great food, gardening, and a good book. If you wanted to watch a Boston sports team, or even some Premier League Football, Uncle Mike was your guy. On his last day, Opening Day, his beloved Red Sox were playing while the family listened together. The Red Sox won.
He will be remembered as everyone’s biggest fan—a true jokester who was always ready with his quick Irish wit. He loved adventure, whether spending time in the city enjoying food and fun with family, or traveling to Ireland to visit loved ones.
If you met Mike once, he never forgot you. Your story mattered to him.
Michael is survived by his brother, Daniel Foley of Beverly. and many nieces and nephews; Daniel Foley and his wife Kim, Thomas Foley, Timothy Foley, James Foley and his wife Lisa, Shawn Foley, Kerry Foley Levasseur, Paul Foley, Catherine Foley-Lamoureux and Tracy Foley.
His great-nieces and great-nephews were the lights of his life, Katrina Sheehan, Kyle Johanson, Kane Johanson, Coryn Foley, Jordyn Foley, Ashley Megan Foley, Liam Foley, Grace Foley, Travis Foley, Shawna Foley, and Zachary Anderson. He was there confidant, superfan, confirmation sponsor, and party host.
Additionally, and with much love, he is survived by his great grandnieces and grandnephews, Gabriella Sheehan, Isabella Sheehan, Odin Michael Johanson, Elle Johanson, Olivia Cook, Walter Anderson and Wesley Burkhalter.
Michael is also lovingly remembered by his extended Foley Family in Counties Cork and Kerry, Ireland, especially Jim and Nora Foley and their family.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, beloved sister Emily, brothers Rev. James, Jeremiah, John, and Timothy as well as his sisters-in-law, Janet and Judy.
Our family was blessed to be with Mike during these last months, the time was truly a gift.
We wish to thank Michael’s caregivers from Lahey Health Home Hospice for every kindness they showed, and the special neighbors at The Tower who always brightened his days.
Godspeed, Uncle Mike, and on to your Reward.
