Mike Bennett left this world far too soon on September 14th, 2026. But Mike would not want us to focus on how his life ended. He would want us to focus on how he lived. And Mike LIVED.
Mike was born on June 12, 1969, to Kay and Tom Bennett and was raised in Melrose alongside his sibling, Jim. He attended Malden Catholic and Boston College, where he made lifelong friends and began a life defined by hard work, purpose, and success.
Mike did everything with intention. Whether it was his business career, raising his family, coaching his sons, or spending a day outdoors, he was all in. He was smart, driven, funny, adventurous, fiercely loyal, and left a lasting positive impression on everyone he met.
Above all, Mike prided himself on being a dad and husband. He was the best husband to Erin and the incredibly proud father of four sons, Tommy, Will, Richard, and Drew. His boys were the center of his world. He coached them in every sport, never missed a game, and never missed an opportunity to be on the sidelines cheering them on. He was also at every play and performance for Richard. It didn't matter whether his boys were on the field or the stage, Mike showed up.
Mike raised his family in Middleton before recently moving to Beverly. There, Mike was excited about a new chapter, which included a house on the ocean and a boat. Mike loved the water, and for 11 years, some of their happiest family memories were made on Pawtuckaway Lake, spending summer days with all the people he loved most.
Mike was an outdoorsman who loved music, and his charismatic personality made every moment with him a good time. He had a quick wit, an open mind, was full of passion, and had a way of making ordinary moments memorable.
Mike built a successful life, but his greatest accomplishment was the life he built with his family. He loved Erin, adored his four boys, and was incredibly proud of the people they were becoming. He taught them to work hard, show up, enjoy life, and be true to themselves.
Mike lived intentionally. He loved fiercely. He truly made everyone around him better because he made you want to be the best version of yourself. He saw the best in people and made you want to do better by living by example.
Mike was also an avid movie buff, and to close this, a quote from one of his favorites, Dead Poets Society:
“Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.”
