Mary Ellen Look

NORTH ANDOVER – Mary Ellen Look of North Andover died peacefully in her sleep Thursday, June 24. She just celebrated her 85th birthday.

 Mary Ellen was born on June 18, 1936 in Boston, Massachusetts and graduated from Lasell College. Soon after she married Robert W. Look of Edgartown, Massachusetts and moved to Rockledge, Florida. The couple had three children together: Allison, Robert and Brian Look.

 During her time in Florida, she and her husband Robert worked for the original seven NASA astronauts in the ‘Space Race’ including the Gemini and Apollo launches. She eventually moved back to Massachusetts and raised her three children in Acton, in a house she made a home that she still talked about as time went on. She most recently worked as a legal assistant at Ropes & Gray LLP in Boston.

Mary Ellen loved the Christmas season and anything sweet, especially Brigham’s coffee ice cream! She was also a woman of deep Catholic faith and went to church every day during lent for most of her life. She enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to travel to see the Vatican in Rome, something that meant so much to her. More than anything, though, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

 Mary Ellen, or ‘Nan’ as her nine grandchildren called her always went above and beyond for her family. Growing up, she would give her grandchildren ’12 Days of Christmas’ every year. She picked out 12 small gifts and wrote 12 poems so the kids could open them up each morning leading up to Christmas. Keeping the Christmas spirit alive year after year and one of her grandchildren’s fondest memories of her.

 She is survived by her children, Allison Mundry (Look) and Robert W. Look Jr., their spouses Kenneth Mundry and Jessica Look, daughter-in-law Gina Perez, grandchildren Courtney Franks (Look), Eric Look, Jacqueline Mundry, Amy Look, Andrea Perez, Kenneth Mundry Jr., Michael Look, Kelly Look, Peter Look, as well as a number of extended family members and close friends.

 Mary Ellen was predeceased by her son MSgt. Brian Look, her former husband Robert Look, and her parents John Quinn and Mary O’Brien.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St. (Rt114) Middleton, MA.  Her Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Michael’s Parish, 196 Main St., North Andover, MA on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at Ridgewood Cemetery.

 Mary Ellen is remembered by those who are closest to her as kind and philanthropic and gave to anyone who she could. Memorial contributions can be made to the organization of ones choosing, just as Mary Ellen would have wanted.
