Mary Tragert Obituary

Mary Theresa Tragert (née Mangan), 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 07, 2021 surrounded by her family.   Recently of Byfield, she had resided in Middleton with her family for over 45 years.  She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Henry Tragert of Byfield, and her children, Anne Cote of Middleton; John and Kathy Tragert of Naples, ME; Chris Tragert of Joshua Tree, CA; Robert and Leslie Tragert of Ipswich; Mary Toropov of Hull; Matthew Tragert of West Boxford; and Joseph and Bernadine Tragert of Ipswich.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Lawson, and survived by her brothers and sisters, Jerry Mangan, John Mangan, Patty and David Morgan, Kathleen Giovannone, and Gail Eaton.

A registered nurse, Mary was a staunch advocate and compassionate care giver for North Shore children on the pediatric floor at Hunt Hospital in Danvers for many years.  She also served on the Middleton School Committee, Middleton Historical Commission and Cultural Commission, the Middleton Historical Society, the League of Women Voters and Flint Library Restoration Committee.  Mary was wife, mother, big sister, aunt, friend, teacher, healer, spinner, expert lace knitter, weaver, confidant, commentator, comedienne, and a source of unconditional love and constant strength for her entire family.  We mourn her passing and celebrate her life with gratitude and love.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Middleton, and respectfully will be limited to the immediate family.   In lieu of flowers, friends are invited to make a donation to the Middleton Historical Society Memorial Fund, PO Box 456, Middleton, MA  01949.
