Mary Ficaro, of Lynnfield formally of 40 Rand St Revere, passed away peacefully on Thursday June 26, 2025, at her daughter and sons-in-law’s home in Lynnfield two weeks before her 99th birthday. Mary was the daughter of the late Antonio and Rose Fantasia and also was the widow of her beloved Nicola Ficaro.
Mary is the beloved mother of Marianne and her husband Christopher Quinn, her son Leonard Ficaro and his fiancé Paula Stangenberg, grandmother of three granddaughters Cassandra, Brittany, Brianna and great granddaughter Remmington. Mary was the rock and foundation to her children, grandchildren, and to her many nieces and nephews.
When Mary was in high school, her older brother "Gussy" served in WWII. As a senior in high school, she became a seamstress, and her samples of the US army uniform were sent for approval to be mass produced for the military. She asked God to please bring her older brother "Gussy" to be brought home and promised to always go to church and mass every week if he was brought home safely and he was.
Mary spent over 95 years with her family on Rand Street in Revere. Her love and devotion for her mother, father and brothers made her so happy and content along with the beautiful sunsets and breezes from the top of Mountain Ave. Mary worked many years with her brother Salvatore in Boston embroidering clothing for Jordan Marsh. Mary also shared daily coffee with her younger brother Cosmo overlooking his garden next door for a majority of her life.
Mary was the most beloved mother that God could have given us. At 98 years old, Mary would check her calendar and make sure that her daughter Marianne would pick up a card and put cash in it for each family member. Her joy and hobbies included watching morning mass, cross word puzzles, bingo, and following current news and evening game shows.
Mary also made contributions for over 70 years to St. Joseph's Indian School in South Dakota and to many other children’s charities. She embodied the term "Mother."
Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Tuesday July 1st from 5-8pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St Rt 114, Middleton, MA 01949. Her Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday July 2nd at 10:30 am at St. Adelaide’s Church 708 Lowell St. Peabody, MA. Her burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Everett, MA.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
