Marguerite Morgan (Hyde) Truesdale

Marguerite Morgan (Hyde) Truesdale of Peabody passed away peacefully at the Brudnick Center for Living surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer and dementia.  She was the beloved wife of Paul Truesdale with whom she shared almost 59 years of marriage.

Marguerite was born and raised mostly in Rhode Island. She was the daughter of the late Anna (Flynn) Hyde and the late Ralph Hyde.  She was the salutatorian of St Mary’s Academy (Bay View) High School in East Providence and became a Registered Nurse after graduating as salutatorian of her class at Salve Regina College in Newport, R.I. 

Marguerite’s nursing career began as a visiting nurse in rural Rhode Island.  Shortly after marrying and moving to Massachusetts she focused on maternity and childbirth parent education. She worked at Beth Israel Hospital for 35 years, first as a staff nurse and eventually running her own business, Baby Matters, providing parent education classes at the hospital. She wrote numerous articles, was interviewed by local TV and print media and was widely respected in the parent education community. 

Marguerite lived 57 years in Peabody and was a devoted parishioner of St Adelaide’s Church where she was prominent in the choir and taught CCD for years. She was an active leader in both boy scouts and girl scouts.

Above all Marguerite was dedicated to her family, completely involved in absolutely every activity of her kids and grandkids.  It could never be too cold, too hot, too rainy, or too windy to prevent her from attending their games, activities, or performances. Time and distance could not impede her from creating and participating in their adventures. The kids loved playing games with her but, of course, she loved it more. Any card game, tennis tournament or board game was a priority.

She loved traveling and in retirement had the time and opportunity to be a world traveler.  Her favorite places were Disney and Hawaii, with her family naturally.

Besides her husband, Paul, she is survived by her three children: son, Kenneth and his wife, Tracy Coleman; daughter, Laura Doble and her husband, Gregory; son, Derek and his wife, Sabra; and her seven grandchildren; Trevor Wilson, Kevin, and Mary Doble, Alec, Elise, Aria, and Kyla Truesdale. Marguerite is also survived by her sister, Rosemary Hyde and her wife, Nancy Chew; sister, Susan Hyde; sister, Dorothy Hyde-Williams; brother-in-law, John Truesdale and his wife, Jean; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Butler; sister-in-law, Rita Hamylak and her husband, Stefan; Marguerite also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Marguerite was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, J. Warren and Mary Truesdale; her brother-in-law, John Leonard; granddaughter, Lindsey Wilson; nephew, Nathanial Williams; brother-in-law, Thomas Butler; brother-in-law, Charles (Fritz) Williams; sister, Phyllis Hyde.

Arrangements:

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours at Mackey Funeral Home (128 S Main St., Middleton, MA 01949) on Sunday, August 30th from 2 to 5 p.m.  Her funeral mass will be held at St Adelaide’s Church (708 Lowell St., Peabody, MA 01960) on Monday, August 31st at 10:30 a.m. (Kindly meet at Church) Burial will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park at Lake St., Peabody.
