LUCILLE M. (Michaud) WILKINSON
July 13, 1930 ~ October 12, 2023 (age 93) 93 Years Old
Lucille Marie Wilkinson, affectionately known as "Lu," passed away on October 12, 2023, in Burlington, Massachusetts, due to complications from pneumonia. Born on July 13, 1930, in Waterbury, Connecticut, Lu's life was marked by her dedication to family, her passion for nursing, and her love for life's simple pleasures.
Lu was a proud alumna of St. Anselm's College, where she earned her bachelor's degree in nursing. Her education laid the foundation for a remarkable career in healthcare that spanned over three decades. Lu served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade nurse in the U.S. Navy, a testament to her courage and commitment to her country. Later, she devoted 30 years of service to the Bedford V.A. Hospital, where she was revered for her compassion and professionalism.
Lu's life was not solely defined by her professional accomplishments. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her sons, Douglas and his wife Patricia, and Robert Wilkinson, along with her cherished grandchildren, Michael and his wife Emily, Lisa, Ryan Wilkinson, and Jaymie Whittaker, and her husband Eli and her two great granddaughters Anya and Lena May Wilkinson. Her sister, Marcy Devanney, and several nieces and nephews.
Beyond her family and career, Lu was an avid reader, a world traveler, and a crossword puzzle enthusiast. Her love for music found expression in her participation in the choir and her involvement in the Brooksby Follies, a popular variety show. These interests brought her immense joy and kept her spirit youthful and vibrant.
Lu's life was a testament to her resilience, her dedication to service, and her unwavering love for her family. Her legacy will live on in the lives of those she touched, both personally and professionally. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know her.
In remembering Lucille Marie Wilkinson, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by kindness, service, and a deep love for her family and community. As we mourn her loss, we also honor her enduring spirit, which will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
