Kathryn H. "Kay" White

Kathryn (Kay) Hannon White, 95, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Dr. William White Sr., with whom she shared fifty-one years of marriage. Born in Beverly, on October 31, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (O’Neill) Hannon. 

Kathryn was raised and educated in Swampscott and was a graduate of Swampscott High School before earning her nursing degree from Salem State University School of Nursing. She began her nursing career at The University of Michigan School of Dentistry, where she met the love of her life, William. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and devotion to one another. She later served as a school nurse at Landmark School in Beverly where she was a trusted source of comfort and care for countless students. 

Above all, Kathryn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured every moment spent with her children and grandchildren, especially at the family’s vacation home on Lake Sunapee, where countless happy memories were made together. 

A devoted communicant of Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church in Danvers, she was an active member of the Lady’s Sodality and the Catholic Mr. & Mrs. Club, where she formed many lifelong friendships. 

Kathryn cherished the friendships she cultivated throughout her life. Whether enjoying a spirited game of cards with her fellow residents at Ferncroft Tower, sharing laughter over coffee, or gathering with friends, she found great joy in the companionship of those she loved. 

She leaves behind three daughters and their spouses: Ann and Herbert Funsten of Los Alamos NM; Martha and Scott Pike of Danvers; and Ellen and Edward Onofrio of North Andover. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Oliver Funsten; Emily Funsten and Andy Radelet; Kristin Funsten and Thomas Boullier; Connor Pike; Megan and Sean Gatsogiannis; Logan Pike; Hannah Onofrio; and Matthew Onofrio, and many nieces and nephews. Kathryn was preceded in death by her beloved son, Dr. William White Jr.

Her visiting hours are Monday, July 13, 2026 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Saint Mary of the Annunciation Church, 24 Conant Street, Danvers. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am immediately following visitation hours. Burial will follow at Annunciation Cemetery in Danvers. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
