Joseph A. Barkowski Jr., 84, of Ipswich, passed away peacefully on June 24th, 2021 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief period
of decline in health. He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Levesque) Barkowski, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Joe was born on June 14th, 1937, and was a lifelong resident of Ipswich. He was the son of the late Joseph and Blanche (Lezon) Barkowski.
Joe graduated from Ipswich High School, with the class of 1955. Back in those years, Joe was quite the athlete. He took part in the Ipswich High
Championship Football team in 1953 & 1954.
After High School, Joe married, and over the following years became the proud father of 5 children. He worked at the United Shoe Machinery Corp. in Beverly, Mass. for nearly 40 years. He was the Facilities Manager before retiring in 1996. Joe enjoyed Food, whether he was cooking or eating it, Watching Sports, and was an avid Boston sports fan. Above all, he loved spending time with his family. Joe is survived by his son Ronald Barkowski and his wife Diane, daughter Diane (Barkowski) Veno, son Joseph Barkowski III and his wife Janice, daughter Pamela and her husband Brian Sarro, and daughter Sharon Barkowski. Joe also leaves behind 10 Grandchildren: Michele, Nicole, Stephanie, Lori, Joseph IV, Jessica, Steven, Amy, David, and Eric, & 7 Great-Grandchildren: Taylor, Dallas, Devon, Samuel, Drew, Les Paul, and Tessa.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to visiting hours on Wednesday morning from 9:30 am-11:00 am in the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St.,
