John Truxton Duffy, known affectionately to friends and family as Jackie, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of 89. Born on July 5, 1935, in Lynn, MA, John was a resident of Danvers, MA for most of his life.
John was a devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, the late Margery (Callahan) Duffy, with whom he shared not only his life but also his love of boating—a passion that brought them both great happiness. John was a loving father to his son, Michael, and a kind and thoughtful father- in-law to Shannon. He was an adored “PopPop” to Connor who will carry his grandfather's legacy into the future.
He is survived by his sister, Dawn Dossett, and her husband, Wilford, many beloved nieces, nephews, in-laws, and cherished friends. John was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Durkee,
and his parents, Helen and John J. Duffy.
John was a proud graduate of Lynn English High School, and shortly after, he embraced a career at Whites Laundry, where he dedicated over 30 years of his life and he was a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. His commitment to work was paralleled only by his service in the Army National Guard, an experience that instilled in him a lasting sense of duty and honor.
Following his long and respected tenure at Whites Laundry, John found joy in helping others as a driver for Caring Choice Transportation, where he could often be found forming heartfelt connections with those he transported.
John’s detailed storytelling was a marvel to behold, and it was only outmatched by the memories he shared of his beloved Margie. Even until the end, not one day would pass without a word about his adored wife, and every new person he met would soon learn of their love story.
As we mourn his loss, we are comforted to know that they are together again.
