John Berberian Obituary

John Anthony Berberian, 94, of Peabody, born in Medford, MA on March 26, 1926 passed away on January 12, 2021 at the Skilled Nursing Home at Brooksby Village in Peabody.

He had been a patient at the Nursing Home for the past 2 years after suffering a stroke on February 13,  2019.   He is predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Parmegiani) Berberian, his brother, Albert Berian, and two sisters, Mary Mickler and Rene Goodland.  John is also the loving Father of his four children, John Berberian, Jr. of Orrington, ME, Rosanne McTernan and her husband, Bernie, of Needham, MA, Michael Berberian and his wife Sonja Roaf of Naples, FL and Julie Salazar of Santa Fe, NM; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

John is a Veteran.  He entered the United States Navy at the age of 17 and served from 1943 to 1946 during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres.

John and his wife lived in Winchester, MA before retiring to Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, MA and were also residents of Marco Island, FL for many years.

John was an accomplished machinist and he successfully owned and operated Parkway Machine & Tool Co. in Somerville, MA before taking early retirement at the age of 55.  John enjoyed fishing and boating while in Gloucester and Florida.

When John moved to Brooksby Village in Peabody on December 2010 (following the death of his wife), he became involved with the Treasure Chest which is located within the Brooksby Community selling second-hand furniture and other household items, which John was counted on to repair and get ready for resale.  John will be remembered not only for his big smile and friendly “hello” to everyone he met but also for the music he would play in his apartment that those passing by would enjoy.  John will be greatly missed but his family takes comfort in knowing he is Heaven with his loving wife.

Private burial will take place at a later date at the Westview Cemetery in Lexington, MA.
