John is survived by his loving wife Claire of 62 years, his daughter Amy Gibbons Lewis of Danvers as well as his son-in-law and best friend Dan Lewis and his 4 loving grandchildren; John, Sam, Ryan and James (all of Danvers). John was born in Clinton in 1921 to Mary Hasting Gibbons and James Francis Gibbons, both born in Ireland. He proudly served his country during World War II as part of the US Coast Guard. He was a member of Saint Mary's Parish and a former member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 1, Newbury Port, and Knights' of Columbus. John went on to have a long and successful career in plumbing and heating. John was known for his dedication to his faith and to his family and would want to be remembered for the light he brought into peoples' lives, his presence will be sorely missed, John also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his son John Joseph Gibbons (1967) and his siblings Mary Teresa Gibbons and James Francis Gibbons. Online expressions of sympathy below:
