Joanna Rozopoulos Andrekos, affectionately known as Anna, passed away on December 5, 2024, following a brief illness. She was a beacon of love and strength throughout her 95 years, having been born on January 27, 1929, in Ihalia Messinia, Greece. Anna's final days were spent surrounded by her family.
Anna was the beloved wife of the late George Andrekos. She was the cherished daughter of the late George and Ekaterini Rozopoulos. Her legacy continues through her devoted brother Alkibiades Rozopoulos and his wife Theonie, her sister Efrosini Papageorgiou and her husband Christos, as well as her sister-in-laws, Efstathia Rozopoulos and Nitsa Rozopoulos. Anna's life was further enriched by the many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss her dearly. Her passing was preceded by the loss of her brothers, Arisitides and Angelo Rozopoulos, and her sister, Vasiliki Kalatzis.
In 1962, Anna embarked on a courageous journey from Greece to Lynn, embracing the spirit of hope and opportunity. Anna proudly worked at her brother Alki's restaurant, Ocean Delight in South Peabody, for many years. There, she not only served customers but also created a sense of community and belonging for all who walked through the doors. She was a longtime member of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Lynn, and a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Anna's life was a testament to the enduring power of family and the bonds that tie us together. She was the heart of her family, offering unwavering support and embodying the virtues of kindness and generosity. Her home was a haven of Greek culture and tradition, where she shared stories, laughter, and her much-adored Greek pastries.
Her influence extended beyond her immediate family to the broader community, where she was respected and adored for her compassion and kindness. Anna's legacy is one of love and family.
Anna will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends. As we honor her remarkable life, we take solace in knowing that her journey was full and her heart was content. Her memory will forever be eternal.
