Joann Vigliotti DeRosa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in West Peabody on November 16, 2024 after a long battle of multiple illnesses. Born on April 22, 1947, in New Haven, CT, to Anna and Joseph Vigliotti. Joann was a loving mother to her two sons, Russell J. DeRosa of West Peabody and Damon M. DeRosa of Burlington. Her love extended to their spouses, Alex M. DeRosa and Francesca M. DeRosa, whom she embraced as her own. Joann's joy was multiplied with the arrival of her grandsons, Andrew L. DeRosa and Dario A. DeRosa, who brought her immeasurable happiness and pride.
Joann is survived not only by her children and grandchildren but by her brother Donald Vigliotti of Hamden, Connecticut and his spouse Donna and their three sons, and many relatives and close friends. Joann's vibrant spirit and unwavering kindness profoundly touched all who knew her throughout her remarkable 77 years.
Joann was a proud graduate of Hamden High School's Class of 1965. She later married Leonard M. DeRosa with whom she shared 42 years together until his passing in 2013. Joann left an indelible mark on the Peabody community through her service work, most notably receiving the prestigious Golden Apple Award for her outstanding contributions to the students of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, The Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Football Boosters as a Lifetime Passholder along with her predeceased spouse Lenny. Her dedication to PVMHS was further recognized with an Honorary Membership in The National Technical Honors Society, a testament to her commitment to excellence and nurturing young minds in both the culinary and cosmetology departments.
Joann's interests were as eclectic as they were passionate. She had an eye for style, and beauty, expressed through her love of shopping and makeup. Her adventurous spirit was fulfilled through world travel, exploring new places with her husband Lenny and their close friends. Joann's heart also held a special place for dogs, whose companionship and loyalty were a constant source of comfort and delight.
Those who knew Joann would describe her as the epitome of thoughtfulness with an outspoken humor. She was ever ready to offer support in any way she could. Joann's faith-filled life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, and she will be lovingly remembered by all.
Visitation on Saturday, Nov. 23rd from 10:30 -11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. All services at St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish, 24 Conant St., Danvers.
