Joan Demers Obituary

Joan Theresa Demers, a beacon of kindness and love, passed away due to natural causes at her home in Topsfield on January 27, 2025, at the age of 90. Joan's life was a testament to her thoughtful and loving nature.

Joan’s parents Paul and Diana McCusker and her older brother, Paul McCusker, Jr., welcomed her into their family on May 10, 1934, in Peabody, MA. Paul Jr. and his wife Dorothy had one son, Paul, her only nephew.

Joan was the beloved wife of Glenn Demers, with whom she shared a lifetime of cherished memories. Her legacy continues through her three sons, Bill, Kevin, and Gregg, and her grandchildren, Shawn, Marc, Megan, Baxter, Ben, Maddy, Noah, and Timmy, as well as her great- granddaughter, Twyla, all of whom she greatly enjoyed.

A graduate of Burdett Secretarial School, Joan worked at Catholic Charities before marrying Glenn in 1956. In their early years while Glenn served in the Air Force, they lived in Texas, Oklahoma and
California. After the service, the family moved to Danvers where they raised their beloved family. Her interests in playing cards, mah jongg, tennis, reading, and skiing brought joy to her and many
others. Numerous happy memories were made with family and friends at her Webster Lake camp.

Joan's memory will be forever treasured by her family and all who knew her. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her thoughtful, kind, and loving spirit.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 1, at St. Rose in Topsfield at 10:30, with visitation in the church hall from 9:30 to 10:15. Burial will be private .
