Joan Deleidi has passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was 82. Born on September 29, 1942 in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Lucy(Moran) and John Fitzgerald. She grew up in Chelsea and attended both Saint Rose and Our Lady of Grace elementary schools. She graduated from Saint Rose High School. She then went on to work at Shawmut Bank in Boston, Siegel and Ostervich Lumber Yard and then Bloombergs in Chelsea.
She married Richard Deleidi on October 26, 1963 and together they shared 53 years of marriage before his passing in 2016. In 1965 they bought Dick's Cafe in Chelsea, which they owned for over 30 years. They had 2 children and in 1973 they moved their family to Danvers. They took a trip to Aruba for their 25th wedding anniversary and immediately fell in love with the island. They spent time there every winter for many years. They also enjoyed Martha's Vineyard, where they owned a home for almost a decade. Many fond family memories were made here as well. When the bar was sold in the late 90s Joan was now able to spend some very valuable time with her grandchildren. They were her greatest joy and she couldn't be more proud of them.
She passed away on March 1, 2025 after a long illness. She was loved by many and her feisty demeanor will be remembered and missed every day.
She is survived by her daughter Denise Drew and her husband Mark of Danvers, her son James Deleidi and his wife Kathleen of Gloucester.
She was Nana to her grandchildren: Joseph and Zachary Deleidi, Nicholas Drew and his wife Jourdan, Ryan Drew, Alicia Adewunmi and her husband Tobi, Justin Drew and his fiance Genevieve and Nicole Deleidi as well as her step grandchildren Taylor Laird and her husband Chris, and Patrick Hunt.
She also leaves her brother John Fitzgerald and his wife Rosemary, her sister Judy McKenzie and her husband Peter, her brother and sister in law, Arthur and Millie Deleidi as well as 5 nieces and 4 nephews.
