Jeanne C. (Diotte) Sweeney, 89, loving wife of the late Edward E. Sweeney, passed away February 24, 2021 at Ledgewood in Beverly, MA. Prior to Ledgewood, Jeanne lived in Middleton, MA where she spent 15 happy years in her little apartment.
Born on December 17, 1931 in Lynn, MA to the late Ernest and Theresa (Richard) Diotte. Raised in Saugus MA, she graduated from St. Mary’s in Lynn 1949. Jeanne's first job was at Cadillac Olds in Boston where she met the love of her life, Eddie. They were happily married 24 years residing in Danvers, MA and raising four children. She was a long-time employee of the Hunt Memorial Hospital “family” in Danvers until her retirement in 1992.
She loved reading, knitting, cooking, dancing and most of all her family. She was an accomplished gardener and always had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens in the many homes she resided in. Being a lover of the outdoors, much enjoyment came from years of camping at Eastern Slopes in NH. Jeanne was an avid Boston sports fan, especially for her beloved Red Sox and never missed a game. She relished all the happy years at Lake Ivanhoe and Wolfeboro, NH with her sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Johnny. She enjoyed many special weekends with her sisters, Betty Sellenger, Gloria DeGrazia and Tina DiFabio. But her true passion was her ten grandchildren whom she adored and took pleasure in caring for and proudly watching all their activities. Family was always prominent in her life and she will be deeply missed.
Jeanne was a loving mother and leaves behind son Michael Sweeney of Salisbury, his wife Darlene and children, Patrice and Savannah; son Mark Sweeney of Danvers, his wife Christine and children Dr. Kelly and David Steinberg, Katie, Michael and April Rae Anzalone, and Theresa Sweeney; son Brian Sweeney of Danvers, his wife Michelle and children Brian Sweeney Jr and Alison Sweeney and daughter Lisa Melville of Peabody, her husband Jamie and children, Nicholas Melville, Lindsey Melville and Zachary Melville.
Our thanks and gratitude to the caring staff at Ledgewood.
