Jay R. Meuse

It is with great sadness that the family of Jay R. Meuse announces his passing on Tuesday, November 7,2023, at the age of 83.

Born in Stoneham MA, on April 27, 1940, to James R. Meuse and Mildred I. Lewis, Jay was a devoted husband to Donna M. Meuse. As the proud patriarch of a strong family, he was a supportive father to Shawn and his wife Annmarie, Jason and his wife Jill, Jaimi, Kerry and her long-term partner, Marcus Rezza, and daughter-in-law Janet Preston. Jay was predeceased by his son Christopher.  He also embraced the role of being a 'Papa' to James, Lila, Aubrie, and Olivia with great joy and immense pride. Jay was a dear brother to Helen Thornton, Barry Meuse and Stephen Meuse.

Jay was a 1958 graduate of Saugus High School. He became a proud member of Local 1044 Union, where he contributed his skills and dedication for over 60 years. A man of many talents, Jay was not only an esteemed union member but also a successful business owner. His work ethic was commendable, and his commitment to his profession was unwavering.

Among his many interests, Jay was an avid rider of his Harley Davidson, finding camaraderie and freedom on the open road with his band of friends. He rode his motorcycle up until recently at the young age of 83 years old. A skilled player of cribbage, he relished the challenge and strategy of the game, often sharing his love for it with family. Jay found great joy in entertaining family and friends at his home, his welcoming spirit making every gathering a memorable occasion. His beloved late boxer, Sophie, was his constant companion, their bond a testament to his kindness and love for animals.

Jay was a man whose generosity knew no bounds. His giving nature was not confined to material possessions, but also extended to his time, advice, and skills. He was also incredibly handy, always ready to lend a hand or fix a problem, a testament to his resourcefulness and practicality. His love of woodworking created timeless pieces that his family will cherish forever and will be a reminder of his creativity and workmanship.

Jay Ralph Meuse, a beloved husband, father, Papa, brother, uncle, and friend, will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday Nov.13, from 4-7 pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St. Rt 114, Middleton, MA. His Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday Nov. 14 at 10:30 am at the Funeral Home. His burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton.
