James Joseph Simard of Danvers, MA passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday July 16 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 78 years old. He was born in Everett, MA and was married to his wife Lois D’Angelo Simard for 53 years.
He worked as a Massport Police Officer until he retired in 2011 and began his amazing professional golf career. He landed the long sought-after hole-in-one in June 2018. He treasured his winters in Florida, his friendships old and new, a good glass of red wine, and above all time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Lois, son Erik M. Simard and wife Elise of Melrose, MA, daughter Danielle Vivilecchia and husband David of Reading, MA.Beloved grandfather of Elana and Alexis Simard and Gabriela and Chloe Vivilecchia. Brother of Helen MacLaughlin and husband Lester of Marblehead, William Simard and wife Dorothy of Saugus, Richard Simard (late) and wife Bette of Everett, and Joseph Simard (late) of New Hampshire.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Friday July 21, from 4 to 7 pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St. (Rt 114) Middleton, MA 01949. His Mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday July 22 at St. Maria Goretti Church, 112 Chestnut St. Lynnfield, MA.
