James J. Sheedy

James J. Sheedy, 91, of Danvers, MA, passed away October 26, 2021, at Bridges by Epoch-Andover, surrounded by family. He was married to the late Athena K. (Chipouras) Sheedy, who passed away in 2001.

Jim was born and raised in Lynn, MA, and was the son of Michael and Bridget (Ahearn) Sheedy. He graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High School in Lynn and worked at General Electric in Lynn before being drafted into the Army in 1952. After basic training, Jim served in the artillery in Korea until November 1953 when he was honorably discharged as a sergeant. He returned to General Electric after leaving the Army and worked as a technical writer until he retired in 1990. While working at GE, Jim completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology, his master’s degree in business administration, and an associate degree in Engineering through Northeastern University under the GI Bill.

In addition to his family, Jim enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, refinishing furniture, and coaching youth sports. He traveled through the United States, Canada, and Europe with his wife and children. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

Jim is survived by his children, Michael Sheedy and his partner Colleen Lentine of Merrimac, MA, Diane (Sheedy) Nelson and her husband Monte of Tyngsborough, MA, James B. Sheedy of Danvers, MA, and Donna Sheedy of Portland, OR. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Sheedy, Kaitlyn (Sheedy) Correa and her husband Luis, Emily Sheedy, Kyle Sheedy, and Katherine Nelson, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins. Jim was pre-deceased by his siblings, Margaret (Peggy) (Sheedy) Murphy, Mary (May) (Sheedy) Moran, John Sheedy, Thomas (Tom) Sheedy, and Robert (Bob) Sheedy.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday November 1, 2021, from 5 to 8 pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St. (Rte. 114) Middleton, MA. His Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday November 2, 2021, at 11 Am in St. Mary of the Annunciation Church 24 Conant St. Danvers, MA.  Burial will follow at Annunciation Cemetery, Hobart St. Danvers.
