James Moran Reynolds, known affectionately as Jimmer to his family and Jim to his friends, passed away on January 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 10, 1946, in Sherburne, New York, James was a beacon of strength and joy throughout his 79 years.
Jimmer’s early life in Sherburne, NY laid the foundation for a lifetime of dedication and passion. He attended St. Francis High School, a boarding school, in Hamburg, New York, alongside his brother Joseph. His love for mechanics and aviation was nurtured at the Teterboro School of Aeronautics in Teterboro, New Jersey, where he honed his skills that would define his career.
In 1968, Jim began what would become an illustrious 35-plus year career in aviation mechanics with Mohawk Airlines, which later became USAirways. His commitment to excellence and safety in aviation left a lasting impact on the industry and those he worked with. He was a mentor to many and took great pride in his work, always striving to share his knowledge and passion for aviation with others.
James’ life was enriched by his faith, as he was a devout Catholic who lived his principles through his actions and his loving nature. He was a spirited man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as tinkering with car projects and spending quality time with his cherished grandchildren.
Family was the cornerstone of James’ world. He was a devoted husband to his wife of over 50 years, Judith Ann (Moscho) Reynolds, and a loving father to his children, Christopher Reynolds and his wife Carol, and Katherine Bellett and her husband Marc. Jim relished his role as PopPop to Bridget, Benjamin, Liam, and Ellie, each of whom brought immense happiness and light to his life.
Jimmer was the beloved brother to Anne Blacher, Alice Berlinski and her husband Edward, Mary Reynolds, Elizabeth Reynolds, Dolores Schiesel and her husband Daniel, and sister-in-law Christine Reynolds. He lived his life committed to his family, and he will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Alice Reynolds, his brother Joseph Reynolds, sister-in-law Susan Reynolds, and his brother-in-law Irwin Blacher, Jimmer’s legacy of resilience continues to live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
A man of spirit and faith, Jimmer’s memory will be cherished as one who lived fully, loved generously, and inspired those around him to pursue their passions with the same fervor he did. His was a life well-lived, marked by the joy he found in the skies and the love he shared on the ground. James M Reynolds will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Calling hours will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, Middleton, MA on Sunday, January 18 from 1:00PM-3:00PM. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 19 at 10:30am in St Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., Middleton, MA.
