Services: Visitation Friday 4-7pm : Graveside Services Saturday 11am Puritan Lawn, (meet at the main gate at 10:30am)
On December 17, 2023, James P. Clements, “Skip the Brush,” passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness at the age of 82. Born December 11, 1941, to Doris (Bremner) Clements Spear in Brookline, Massachusetts, and stepson to Ellsworth Spear, he graduated from Scituate High School and Butera School of Art. A self-employed artist, Skip the Brush was a sign painter, truck letterer, air brush artist, and teacher. Both his talents and his interests were many⎯from boat and drag racing to motorcycle riding and building cars and trucks⎯but his greatest love was for the people in his life and for life itself. A member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company, Flotilla Commander of the Coast Guard Auxiliary under Homeland Security, and member of the Harley Owners Group and the Strokers Hot Rod Club, Skip left a trail of friends wherever he went.
Skip the Brush is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Nancy (Chase) Clements; his sons, Troy, James, and Gregory; three grandchildren, Ian, Alex, and Emily; stepbrother, Tod Spear; and many loving extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Doris; stepfather, Ellsworth; and brothers, Stephen and Gregory.
Visiting hours will be held at the Mackey Funeral Home in Middleton, Massachusetts, on Friday, December 22, 4−7 p.m, and a funeral service will take place at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Peabody, Massachusetts, on Saturday, December 23. Please gather at the main gate at 10:30 am.
Due to the holiday weekend, a luncheon celebration of life will be held at a later date.
