Helen DiTomaso Obituary

Helen DiTomaso of Peabody, MA, formerly of East Boston, passed away peacefully on May 26th, 2020.

Helen was born on January 9th, 1939 in East Boston, MA, where she met her late husband of 57 years, John.   They raised 3 children in East Boston and Revere instilling deep family values.  Sunday dinner with macaroni and gravy was served every week at 1PM sharp.  The strong bond with her many nieces and nephews was due to her insistence on frequent family gatherings including our mandatory Italian Christmas Eve fish dinner.

Helen spent much of her career working for Massport at Logan Airport and the Tobin Bridge (“The Bridge”).  She always had a good story to share and longtime friends made on her numerous projects.  After several years’ retirement, Helen’s ambitiousness led her back to work at Sports Medicine North in Peabody where she enjoyed meeting new and lasting friends.  Her funny antics were contagious and always put a smile on people’s faces.

Helen loved baking including her infamous candy cane cake and gingerbread houses.  She baked for every occasion and non-occasion and made birthday cakes for everyone she knew.  She always had a kind word to say and a strong Catholic faith.   Her always present prayer book will continue to be read.

Helen is survived by her 3 children, John DiTomaso Jr and wife Pamela of Peabody, Gary DiTomaso and Susan Sintros of Pelham N.H. and Lisa Cibotti and husband Ron of Ashland MA.  Helen is the cherished grandmother to Brittany Marrier, Katie DiTomaso, Michelle DiTomaso and Nicholas Cibotti.  She is the dear sister of late Vincent (Jim) Manganello, Frank Manganello and Mary Scannelli.  She is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews.

Family and immediate friends will honor Helen’s life with a funeral service on Monday, June 1st.

Memorial gifts may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org where Helen was a compassionate donor for several decades.
