Harold E. MacFarland, Sr.

Peabody - Harold E. MacFarland Sr., 97 years old, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on August 7th, 2021.

Harold was born on October 18, 1923 in Malden, Massachusetts. Harold was a decorated World War II Veteran where he received three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, Army Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Arrowhead Devise and one Silver Service Star, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp, Combat Infantryman Badge and Honorable Service Lapel Button -WWII, while enlisted in the Army as a PVT Company A, 1st Battalion, 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division, APO 461.

Soon after the war, he met and married Phyllis Marie Chick of Malden, Massachusetts and had three children together: Aprille, Joy and Harold Jr.

He leaves behind his wife, Phyllis MacFarland, children, Aprille MacFarland and her fiancé Dave Roberts, Joy MacFarland and her partner Albion Morse, and Harold Jr., grandchildren, Amanda Small and her husband Ryan, Felica Ruano and her fiancé Dan Bourque, Dylan Meo, Logan Meo, Alexandra MacFarland, Gregory MacFarland and his partner Brooke Cavanaugh, great-grandchildren, Marley Small, Oliver MacFarland and Mia MacFarland and his beloved lap dog, Tootsie.

Harold was also the last survivor of nine brothers and sisters and leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Harold is remembered by his love for his family, cooking holiday meals, watching the Patriots football games every Sunday with his family and talking about his days in the war.

Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours from 11-1 on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St. (Rt114) Middleton, MA.
