Guenter Schank

The life of a remarkable individual, Guenter Schank, who, at the age of 96, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on December 26, 2024. Born on October 19, 1928, in Herne, Germany. He leaves behind a family that adores him: his wife Illa, his partner of 70 years in every sense, sharing in his adventures and supporting his dreams. A cherished father to his daughter Petra Turla and her husband Mark, as well as his son Thomas Schank and his wife Michelle. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Jason, Melissa, Travis, Alex, Mica, Andrew, Johnny, and Courtney, and a great-grandfather to Sienna. His family was the heart of his life.

Guenter's passion for life was evident in his career as a mechanical engineer, where his ingenuity and problem-solving skills were not just his trade but his calling. His professional life was marked by dedication and excellence, as he brought a sense of joy and curiosity to every project he undertook. 

His enthusiasm for life was beautifully reflected in his passion for golf and his love for travel, visiting over 100 countries. His adventurous spirit went beyond exploring new destinations; it was rooted in his genuine appreciation for diverse cultures and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. This unwavering curiosity and kindness made Guenter a beloved friend to many.

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, we take comfort in knowing that his stories, his laughter, and his love will continue through the generations. Guenter often described life as "almost perfect," a reflection of his optimistic outlook and his belief that there was always something more to learn, experience, and enjoy.
