Gladys F. Reid

Gladys Faye (Vickers) Reid formerly of Saugus, MA, passed away December 23, 2022 at age 81, following a brief illness.  She was wife of the late Stanley S. Reid and loving partner of many years of the late William J. Jeffrey of Saugus. Loving mother of Dorothy Elaine (Reid) Sola and the late Ernest Sola III, Donna Marie (Reid) Full and her partner David Clifford, Steven Stanley Reid and his wife Kim. Beloved grandmother of Amanda Reid Full.  Gladys was born and raised in Chelsea MA, the child of Henrietta and Walter Vickers. She leaves behind her siblings Walter Vickers of Vero Beach, FL and his wife Diane, her sister Barbara Hess and her husband Paul of Wilmington, NC, and her sister Susan Barker and her husband Michael of North Reading, MA. Her treasured nieces Jessica Hess and her partner Mars Jokela of Oakland, CA and Diana (Hess) Gore and her husband Ryan and their son Grayson of Wilmington, NC.
Gladys was raised in Chelsea, MA and married her high school sweetheart Stanley Reid. They met while singing in the choir at the Mt. Bellingham Church.  The young couple moved to Saugus in 1961 where Gladys enjoyed raising her three children in the Lynnhurst area of Saugus.  They were proud Saugus High School band parents for 10 years making many lifelong friends.  Gladys and Stanley were married for 30 wonderful years, and spent summers in Cape Porpoise, ME, truly the best years of her life.
Gladys was known for her larger than life personality, she enjoyed music (especially Elvis and Josh Groban), dancing, and socializing with her many friends.  She loved clothes, and she always wore her favorite headbands to match her outfits. Gladys was a young widow after losing Stan in 1991. She leaned on her friends for support, eventually leading her to attend  an over 50s dance where she met the second wonderful man in her life, Bill Jeffrey.  Glad and Bill were together for over 25 years, and both enjoyed the second half of their lives, living in Boxford, MA and traveling as snowbirds to Ft. Myers FL each winter.
Gladys will be sorely missed by many. Gladys loved children and was avid donor to the St.Jude Organization.
