Frederick Grato, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 28, 2023, at Blueberry Hill Rehab in Beverly, Fred was born in Boston on February 1, 1948, and was a longtime resident of both East Boston and Saugus.
He is survived by his wife, Judy; their son Stephen, his wife Adrienne, and their two children - Cameron and Bennett; also, their second son, Jason; and finally, their third son Andrew, his wife Arielle, and their two children - Leon and Anne. Outside of his immediate family, Fred is survived by multiple nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. He was also the last surviving child born to Antonio and Julia (Kozlowski) Grato.
Fred was a graduate of East Boston High School, a veteran of the United States Marines, and a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Local Union #33.
He had a fondness for casinos, with a sharp wit that often brought him luck, and an unbeaten competitive spirit on the bowling alley and in the darts hall. A stalwart patron of Boston's local watering holes, Fred's favorite pastime was cheering on the Patriots, Bruins, Red Sox, and Celtics.
Fred was also known to many under the monikers of Dad, Papa, Uncle, FDR, and PITA Husband.
