Eleanor was born in 1923, in Cambridge MA, the 4th child of Daniel and Catherine (Keane) Ahern. Eleanor's mother passed away when Ellie was only three, and her sisters Catherine McCormick and Mary Ahern Lewis, along with her brother Daniel "Bud" Ahern, all helped to raise her. When Ellie was six, her father remarried, and in addition to a new mother, Catherine Healey, she gained 6 more brothers.
In 1947 Eleanor married Dr. Cornelius J. Driscoll of Revere. She and Neil moved to Danvers, where she helped him set up his general practice. Ellie and Neil were happily married for 39 years, and together raised a family of 6 children.
In addition, Eleanor was very active in local charities, church groups and organizations, particularly the Catholic Charities of the Northshore.
Later in life, Eleanor pursued another dream, that of being an artist. Eleanor studied with many prominent local painters. She felt especially blessed to be included in the "Tuesday Ladies", an elite group of students of the accomplished artist, Helen VanWyke. Here among her peers, and friends, she perfected her talent.
