Edward Francis Rhodes passed away after a brief illness on March 2, 2020 at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA. He and his late sister, Shirley, were born in Melrose, MA, of the late Ivan F. Rhodes and Vera Bickford Rhodes. Edward was preceded in death by his first daughter Susan, and is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Karen (Christopher), Valerie, Heather (John), Dyann, and five grandchildren. Edward attended Melrose High School and subsequently joined the National Guard. He then attained a degree in accounting from Bentley College and a J.D. from Suffolk Law School. He was a long-time resident of Beverly, MA and a long-time employee of Investors Bank and Trust, before he retired. He loved to laugh and joke with his daughters and he loved The Simpsons and Star Wars. He had a passion for the history of Massachusetts towns and villages and he loved traveling to libraries to do his research. He also loved trains. With a long life comes a long list of caregivers. Edward wanted to express his gratitude and appreciation to the many individuals that went above and beyond to care for him and provide him with the long life he wished for.
