Dorothy “Darcy” E. Tetrault was born in October, 1941, the youngest of five children of the late William and Dorothy (Carter) Madden in Quincy, Massachusetts. She passed peacefully following a long illness on September 8, 2023.
Darcy grew up on the south shore, graduating from Weymouth High School in 1959. She met her devoted husband of 62 years, John Tetrault, at their jobs at the First National Bank of Boston and married in June of 1961, settling in Lynn to raise their family.
Darcy was preceded in death by beloved daughter Cheryl Lopez and is survived by husband John, who provided exceptional care that allowed her to enjoy her home for as long as possible. She also leaves behind daughter Susan and husband David, son John Jr. and wife Denise, son William, and grandson Kyle Lopez.
Kyle was the light of her life; she was incredibly proud of him upon his graduation first from St. John’s Preparatory School and more recently, from Worcester Polytechnical Institute with a double Robotics and Electrical Engineering degree.
Darcy was an active, engaging, hardworking person, obtaining her real estate license and relishing her role as secretary in several offices throughout her adult life. She enjoyed camping, softball, volleyball, bowling, playing cards and games with her husband, family, and friends, and making crafts and sewing. All this in addition to raising four children!
Darcy also was a faithful member of the Catholic church, a Cub Scout leader for sons John and Billy, and volunteered in the Little League concession stand during her sons’ and daughter Cheryl’s seasons of playing baseball. She loved a good Alex Cross detective thriller, enjoyed old Western television shows since childhood, and never met a restaurant menu entree she wouldn’t change to suit her tastes!
Darcy valued her friendships, old and new, and the wonderful crew at Freddy’s restaurant in Middleton always held a special place in her heart.
We would like to thank Care Dimensions Hospice for the gentle support they provided during her illness.
