Dorothy “Dot” Talbot passed away peacefully on January 18, 2025, at Hathorne Hill Assisted Living, with family and friends by her side. Dot was born in Salem, MA on August 18, 1919, one of 14 children born to Benjamin and Helen LeTarte, and was 105 years old. On June 30, 1940, she married the hardscrabble Frenchman named Henry Joseph Talbot, and they remained married until his death on February 11, 1996.
Dot’s greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by five children: Ron (Barbara Perez) of Naples, FL, Judy Harmon of Menomonee Falls, WI, Robert (Denise) of Belfast, ME, Anne Dumke of Chelmsford, MA, and Jean Bowman (Greg) of Midlothian, VA. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were touched by her warmth, wisdom, and love. In addition to her parents and husband, Dot was preceded in death by her 13 siblings, her daughter-in-law Roseanne Talbot, her son-in-law John (Jake) Price, and her granddaughter Jessica Talbot.
Dot graduated from Salem High School in 1937 and lived a life of service, always helping those in need. She worked in various roles throughout her life and was dedicated to her Catholic faith as a lifelong member of St. Mary’s of the Annunciation parish in Danvers, MA. Dot attended daily Mass well into her 90s, demonstrating her unwavering devotion to God. Known for her kindness, compassion, and fierce loyalty, Dot’s legacy is one of unconditional love.
She made everyone feel seen and cherished, offering a smile and words of wisdom to all who knew her. She was also known for her competitive spirit during card games and her love for the popcorn at Salem Willows Park.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S Main St, Rt. 114, Middleton, MA, on Friday, January 24, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 25, at in St. Mary of the Annunciation, 24 Conant Street, Danvers, MA, followed by burial services at the Annunciation Cemetery in Danvers.
