Dorothy (Ryan) Stewart

Dorothy Helen (Ryan) Stewart, affectionately known as Dotty, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025, in Middleton, Massachusetts, at the age of 89. Born on August 19, 1936, in Boston, Massachusetts, Dotty was a source of love and kindness to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ralph Stewart; her parents, Helen (Kiley) Ryan and William Ryan; and her siblings Anne (Ryan) McCarron, Barbara (Ryan) Smith, Claire (Ryan) Robinson, Eleanor (Ryan) Breslin, William Ryan, and Helen (Ryan) Malone.

Dotty’s life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by her children William Stewart and his wife Erin, Carol (Stewart) Jones and her husband John, Donald Stewart and his wife Eileen, along with her adoring grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For many years, Dotty served the community as a bus driver for McGinn Bus Company, where her warm smile and friendly demeanor made her a favorite among passengers. Her work was an extension of her caring nature, ensuring that everyone who stepped onto her bus was greeted with kindness and left with a brighter day.

Dotty found joy in simple pleasures. She relished time with family, especially playing games and sharing stories. A trip to the casino was always met with anticipation, and the thrill of playing the lottery was a delight she enjoyed immensely. These moments of fun never overshadowed her devotion to her family, whom she cherished above all else.

Her faith shone through in the way she lived, putting others first and spreading compassion wherever she went. Those who knew Dotty will remember her as the embodiment of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Her presence was a comforting balm, and her absence will be deeply felt by all who were fortunate to have been touched by her generous spirit. Dotty’s life was a testament to the power of love, and her memory will be cherished and celebrated always.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Visiting Hours on Saturday September 20th from 11 am to 1 pm at Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St RT 114, Middleton, MA.
