Doris Evelyn (Sonego) McCarthy

1930 – 2026

Of North Andover, Massachusetts.  Wife of the late Frederick T. McCarthy, and loving mother to Thomas J. McCarthy, Aurelie Alger and the late Frederick T. McCarthy, Jr.  Grandmother to Michael McCarthy, Sean McCarthy, Colleen Wyrocki, Christopher McCarthy, Michelle Doherty, Michaela McCarthy and Stanley Alger.  Great grandmother of 16.  Sister of the late Richard Sonego of East Boston and the late Pauline Fiore Ashton of Middleton. 

Primarily a homemaker, Doris worked part time as a secretary in the insurance and legal sectors, often supporting her husband in his legal practice as well as in offices in Boston.  She was the Business Manager for the Miss Massachusetts Scholarship Foundation for 10 years, scheduling and organizing the appearances for Miss Massachusetts and acting as local Travel Companion.  She volunteered throughout her lifetime as a school librarian, aide and help positions on multiple school boards. 

An avid traveler and cruiser in her later years, Doris visited over 20 countries in Europe, the Americas and the Caribbean, always enjoying the local culture, food and most of all the people she met.

Regardless of her many roles, her greatest love was her family.

Internment will be private at the Bourne National Cemetery with her husband.  A Springtime Celebration of Life will be held.
