Donald Newton Robinson, affectionately known as Don to his friends and family, passed away on the 19th of November 2025, following a brief illness. He was born on the 15th of February 1932, in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and spent his final days surrounded by loved ones in Danvers, Massachusetts.
Don was the embodiment of a life well-lived, brimming with joy, kindness, and humor. He was devoted to the love of his life, Sally Frederickson, and a loving father to his two sons, Robbie (and wife Pam) and Jody. His legacy extends to his grandchildren, Ben, Gary and Michelle, along with their children. Don's additional family members; Sally's brother, Philip and niece, Tammy Frederickson. Don's cousin, Mary, and her husband, Dick Doucette.
Educated within the Lynnfield School System, Don went on to become a proud Navy veteran. His service on The USS Midway as a machinist instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life. After his honorable discharge, he channeled his mechanical expertise into entrepreneurship, becoming the owner of DN Robinson Water Well Drilling Company, where his work ethic and friendly demeanor were well-known and respected. His interests were as robust and varied as his personality. A lover of antique cars, Ford trucks, and motorcycles. Don especially enjoyed summers spent at Sally's cottage at Rust Pond in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. His participation in the Vintage Trailer Group, Bike Week at Laconia, Jackman Maine and his presence at the Fryeburg Fair were cherished traditions. Don's love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, which included chopping wood and tending to his massive pinecone collection. He was a fixture at group rallies in Acushnet and enjoyed winter breaks in Fort Lauderdale. His laughter and sense of dry humor were a staple at every event, and his jovial spirit was infectious. To describe Don, one might use words such as friendly, kind, and funny, but even these do not fully capture the essence of a man who brought so much light to those around him. As the well-known quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson goes, "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Don Robinson indeed succeeded by every measure of this sentiment. We bid farewell to a man who was not only the heart and soul of his family but also a cherished member of his community. Don Robinson's legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the lives he touched with his enduring warmth and humor. His was a life truly well-lived, and he will be deeply missed.
