Daniel Patric Corbett, known affectionately as Dan to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, at the age of 69 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House surrounded by his family. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, on April 25, 1955, Dan grew up to be a man of integrity, humor, and immense generosity. He departed this world leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and community involvement
Dan's life was characterized by his unwavering commitment to his family and his community. He was the devoted husband of Cheryl Corbett, with whom he shared 39 years of loving marriage. Together, they raised three children: Jenna Freeman, Kayla Corbett, and Brian Corbett, who brought immense joy into Dan's life. As a proud grandfather, he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren, Colin and Haylee Freeman, and Tenley and Trey O'Neill. Dan's family was the cornerstone of his life, and his legacy of love and laughter will live on through them.
Dan was a graduate of Danvers High School, Class of 1974, and his dedication to his hometown remained steadfast throughout his life. He spent over 35 years working with his family's business, Don Corbett Real Estate, where he made significant contributions to the local community. His leadership extended to his role as President of Danvers Girls Softball and his active support of Danvers High School sports, Northeast Arc, and the Friends of Special Olympics. Dan believed in giving back to the community that had given him so much.
An avid sports fan, Dan held season tickets for the Boston Bruins for over 39 years, sharing his passion for hockey with friends and family. He loved coaching his children's youth sports teams and was also an enthusiastic golfer and fisherman, often found on the greens or enjoying a day fishing with his cherished grandchildren. His love for laughter was evident in his fondness for the Three Stooges, which he enjoyed throughout his life.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; his children, Jenna, Kayla, and Brian; his grandchildren, Colin, Haylee, Tenley, and Trey; close family friend Andrew O’Neill; his brother, Kevin Corbett; and many nieces and nephews who will miss his humor and generosity. He is predeceased by his brother, Michael Corbett; his parents, Ralph and Dorothy Corbett; and his niece, Tracy Corbett. His lifelong friendship with James Barbieri stands as a testament to the loyalty and joy Dan brought to his friendships.
To know Dan was to know laughter, generosity, and love. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and valued, and his presence was a source of comfort and happiness for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Dan's sense of humor, his ability to tell a story that could light up a room, and his unwavering support of his loved ones are qualities that will be forever remembered.
Dan Corbett will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with him. His impact on the community of Danvers and beyond will be felt for many years to come. As we bid farewell to a man of such character and mirth, we take solace in the countless stories and moments of joy that he has left behind. Daniel Patric Corbett's life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community, a life that was lived fully and will be remembered fondly by all.
