Cheryl A. Peterson of Middleton passed away peacefully at the Chestnut Woods Healthcare Center on January 17 with her husband Carl at her side. She had been in declining health. Born in Boston, November 2, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Martin A. and Beverly (Gadd) Arslanian. Cheryl grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School and Ohio University. While at Ohio University, she was a member of the Sigma Kappa sorority.

Following graduation from college, she started her career working for the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) where she met her future husband who worked as an engineer for the Association. Cheryl’s career at NFPA included a number of different positions before she retired in 2015 as a project coordinator.  She and Carl married in 1975 and had 2 children. They lived in Melrose and then in Hingham for 34 years where they raised their family before moving to Middleton 5 years ago.

She is survived by her husband, her daughter Claire E. and her husband John C. and grandson John G. Ward of Occoquan Virginia, and her son Edward A. and his wife Sarah W. Peterson of Essex Junction Vermont. She is also survived by her sisters, Linda E. Arslanian of Gloucester and Janet L. and her husband John R. Lannen of Bozeman Montana.

Cheryl enjoyed sailing, cooking, listening to Pink Floyd, and traveling. She visited 48 of the 50 United States as well as Barbados, Aruba, British Virgin Islands, Canada, England, Scotland, France, Monaco, Italy, Armenia, Austria and Australia. However, she was never happier than when her whole family could gather together.
