Charles “Rick” Ericson III, 69, of Rowley Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on March 18, 1956, in Melrose Ma. to the late Charles R Ericson and Marilyn (Brennan) Ericson of Peabody Ma, originally from Malden Ma.In his younger years Rick lived in Malden and Amherst Ma. He later moved to West Peabody Ma, where he grew up. He graduated from Peabody High School in 1974. 

Rick shared 53 years with his wife and soulmate Jeanmarie (DiGianvittorio) Ericson. Married on January 19, 1979, they built a joyful life together raising a beautiful family over 47 years of marriage.

He worked as a truck driver for over 50 years. A dedicated employee of Deering Lumber & Masonry, West Lynn Creamery, and Lindenmeyr Munroe where he was a proud Teamster, Organizer, and Negotiator.  He was an avid fisherman. He loved spending time going down the Rowley River to Middle Ground, Emerson Rocks, Plum Island, and Halibut Point. He also loved his yearly trips to Grand Lake Stream in Maine with his friends. 

Rick’s was also a Motorcycle Enthusiast. His pride and joy was his 1974 BMW R90S. A bike he cherished and maintained with great care. He also loved riding his 1996 FLH Harley-Davidson affectionately known as  “Old Blackie”.  Rick found freedom and joy on the open road, traveling to places such as the Blue Ridge Parkway and Nova Scotia, and he especially looked forward to his yearly trips to Laconia for Bike Week with his friends.

He loved antiquing and exploring flea markets, always on the lookout for old junk. He took great pleasure in bringing old finds back to life.

One of the most memorable times of his life was camping, hiking, and fishing with his daughters. The time they shared outdoors brought him his greatest happiness.  A skilled craftsman, Rick could fix nearly anything. In his later years he became a handyman who enjoyed helping others. 

He treasured summers at Pleasant Lake in Maine, spending time with family and those dear to him. Above all, Rick cherished his role as “Pops” to his grandson Henry Hardy whom he loved dearly. 

He leaves behind his devoted wife, Jeanmarie (DiGianvittorio) Ericson of Rowley, Massachusetts; his daughter, Kristen Ericson-DiPietro and her husband John DiPietro of Malden, Ma; his daughter Tina (Ericson) Hardy and her husband John Hardy; and his adored grandson Henry Hardy of Rowley, Ma.

He is also survived by his sibling; Keith Ericson and his wife Karen Ericson of Kingston, New Hampshire; his cousin Rick Louis and his wife Susan Louis of Sarasota Fla; his cousin Chrissy Fitzsimmons and her husband Tim Fitzsimmons of Cape Haze, Fla; his cousin Diane Tully and her husband Jim Tully of Wakefield, NH; the late James Tecce and his late wife Jane Tecce of Malden, Ma; his brother-in-law the late John DiGianvittorio and his wife Margeret DiGianvittorio of West Yarmouth, Ma; his brother-in-law James DiGianvittorio and his wife Jana DiGianvittorio of West Peabody, Ma; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and dear friends. 

Rick’s warm smile, joyful laughter, and one-of-a-kind spirit touched the lives of everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

Relatives and friends will gather for a funeral Mass on March 13, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., held at Saint Joseph’s Parish, 770 Salem St. Malden, Ma.
